Bruins Finish 10th at South Region Championships

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Belmont men's cross country finished 10th at the 2009 NCAA South Region Championships on Saturday to finish the season.

Jordan Anderson paced the Bruins in the 10K race with a 41st-place finish and a time of 31:50.83. Hillary Cheruiyot was the next Bruin to cross the finish line, improving on last year's Regional time by five seconds, at 32:34.85 (57th-place).

Senior Ben McGlothlin came in 69th with a time of 32:50.69 in his last race as a Bruin.

The Bruins finished with 303 total points, above Atlantic Sun participants East Tennessee State (13th), Lipscomb (16th), and North Florida (21st).

No. 6 Alabama won their third consecutive South Region title, finished with 45 points and three harriers in the top-10. Auburn's Felix Kibioywo took home the individual title with a time of 29:35.85.

The Bruins ended their season today after not qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
