NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Head Coach Brittney Ezell welcomed guard/forward Jordyn Luffman (Lawrenceburg, Tenn.) to the Belmont women's basketball family during the university's winter break. Luffman will hit the hardwood with the Bruins in the middle of December of 2012.
"We are thrilled to add Jordyn Luffman as a transfer to our Belmont University family," said Ezell. "Jordyn's size, skill level and competitive spirit make her a perfect fit for what we are building here. She was looking for a solid fit for her spiritually, academically, athletically, and socially and we are flattered and honored that she found that here at Belmont."
Luffman had a solid freshman campaign at Middle Tennessee State one year ago where she played in 30 contests, earning 19 starts. The 6-1 guard/forward led the Blue Raiders in shooting at the charity stripe, shooting a blistering 90.5 percent. She was also second on the team in steals with a total of 44 and third in both rebounds (110) and three-point field-goal percentage (.349).
A native of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Luffman had a highly decorated career at Lawrenceburg County High under coach Wendy Scott, including being named to the 2010 Tennessee Sports Writers Association's All-State Team and being a finalist for the 2010 3A Miss Basketball award. She was also ranked as high as the No. 37 small forward with an 88 scout's grade by ESPN HoopGurlz. As a junior, Luffman crossed the 1,100 point threshold and pulled down more than 700 rebounds, earning All-Midstate Second Team honors. She also received the 2009 3A District 8 MVP nod and a spot on the All-Tournament team.
Belmont returns to action on January 2 for its first Atlantic Sun road contest of the season at North Florida.
