Women’s Basketball Hosts In-State Rival Tennessee Tech Saturday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's basketball team (13-9, 8-2 OVC) returns to the confines of the Curb Event Center to open a three-game homestand this week.  The Bruins open the series, hosting in-state rival Tennessee Tech (11-10, 5-3 OVC) on Saturday.

Tennessee Tech is holding down second place in the OVC's East Division with a 5-3 record.  The team is standing at 11-10 overall.

The Golden Eagles are led in scoring by Diamond Henderson, who is averaging 15.6 points per game.  Jala Harris adds 12.6 points per outing.  T'Keyah Williams leads the team in rebounds, pulling down 5.2 per contest.

TTU won the first meeting of the season between the programs back on January 5, 58-52, and it leads the all-time series, 23-14.

After shooting as precise as 77.8 percent in the second half, the Belmont women's basketball team rolled over Morehead State on the road Monday night.  The win improved the Bruins to 8-2 in the OVC and gives the team its sixth win in seven outings.  Junior Molly Ernst (Louisville, Ky.)  led all scorers with 18 points, from six buckets from behind the arc.  Senior Katie Brooks (Maryville, Tenn.) added 16 and classmate Alyssa Visbeen (Franklin, Tenn.) contributed 15 points.  Visbeen also led the team in rebounds, pulling down seven. Reigning OVC Newcomer of the Week senior Jordan Coleman (Orlando, Fla.) finished with a game and season-high seven assists, three blocks and two steals.

Brooks leads the Bruins in scoring, netting 10.2 points per game.  Coleman and Visbeen follow, adding 9.6 and 9.2 points per outing, respectively.  Coleman, the reigning OVC Newcomer of the Week, leads the team in rebounding, pulling down 9.8 per contest.  Junior Julianne Downs (Franklin, Tenn.) shoots over 64 percent from the floor and behind the three-point arc to lead BU in both categories.  Coleman and redshirt freshman Blair Bryce (Red Oak, Texas) lead BU in blocks, tallying 19 and 15 swats, respectively.

Three Bruins are nationally ranked in this week's edition of the NCAA Division I Statistical report (1/27) – senior Jordan Coleman is 39th in rebounds per game (10.1); senior Katie Brooks is ranked 96th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.53) and 173rd in assists per game (3.6) while junior Molly Ernst is ranked 91st in three-point field goals per game (2.15) and 125th in three-point field-goal percentage (30.7).

As a team, the Bruins stand 36th in field-goal percentage defense, 39th in turnovers per game (14.5), 61st in assist-to-turnover ratio (0.92), 53rd in free-throw percentage (73.2) and are 102nd in three-point field-goal percentage (31.8).
