NASHVILLE, Tenn.- This past week the Belmont University women's basketball team participated in its first community service initiative of the New Year, Wednesday Jan. 3 when it served those in need at the Nashville Rescue Mission.
"Volunteering at the Nashville Rescue Mission was an awesome experience because it allowed us to give back to the community. These people who work there are awesome people who want nothing then just to serve and help others. It was great to see how such small tasks like serving people dinner could bring so much joy," said Hannah Harmeyer (Kenosha, Wis.).
The team and staff helped serve over 250 meals as it spent an evening volunteering at the local mission.
"I'm so happy that we got the opportunity to serve women and their families. We all enjoyed it, serving to them, hearing their stories, and just being a light to others in our community," added Sierra Jones (Huntsville, Ala.).
The Bruins return to game action this Wednesday, Jan. 11 when they host Eastern Kentucky for a 6 p.m. Central time tilt at the Curb Event Center.
