Women's Golf Finishes Fifth at the Drake Creek Invitational

MURRAY, Ky. – The Belmont women's golf team finished in fifth place at this week's Drake Creek Invitational held at the Drake Creek Golf Club in Ledbetter, Kentucky.

Playing with just four golfers due to Shay Sullivan's withdrawal due to illness, Belmont shot a team score of 310 to finish in fifth place with a 54-hole score of 939.  The team champion was Morehead State, who finished at 893.

The Bruins had three golfers finish among the top-25.  Junior Kelly Maguigan shot a 74 in Tuesday's final round to finish a career-best tie for 9th place at 229.  Sophomore Janet Steen tied for 16th place after carding a 74 on Tuesday for a 233 score.  Her 16th place finish was also a career-best.  Junior Jennifer Newman finished in a tie for 25th place at 237. Sophomore Megan Murphy tied for 40th place with a three round score of 247.  Shay Sullivan had to withdraw before the third round due to an illness.

Belmont will be back on the course this Friday and Saturday at the Great Smokies Intercollegiate in Waynesville, North Carolina.
