WAYNESVILLE, N.C. – The Belmont women's golf team stands in 20th place after round one of the Great Smokies Intercollegiate held this week at the Waynesville Country Club in Waynesville, North Carolina.
Belmont shot a team score of 314 in Monday's first round to put them in 20th place. They are 24 shots behind tournament leader and host Western Carolina.
The Bruins are led by senior Jennifer Newman , who stands in a tie for 58th place after carding a 77 (+5) on Monday. Three Bruins, juniors Janet Steen, Patricia Masick, and Megan Murphy, are all tied for 80th place after each posted a 79 in the first round. Freshman Sydney Hudson is tied for 116th with a score of 84. The individual leader is Jennifer Park of ULM who shot a 68.
The second and final round will begin Tuesday morning at 8:00am CT.
