Women's Golf Finishes 17th at the Great Smokies Intercollegiate
WAYNESVILLE, N.C. –The Belmont women's golf team finished in 17th place at the Great Smokies Intercollegiate held this week at the Waynesville Country Club in Waynesville, North Carolina.
In Tuesday's final round, the Bruins shot a team score of 295 to move up three spots to 17th place with a 36-hoel score of 609. The tournament champion was Eastern Kentucky, who posted a score of 576.
Belmont was led by junior Janet Steen, who shot a two-under 70 in the final round, her lowest round as a collegian, to finish in a tie for 31st place at 149. Senior Jennifer Newman finished in a tie for 56th place with a score of 152. Other Belmont scores included: Megan Murphy (T-80th, 155), junior Patricia Masick (T-91st, 157), and freshman Sydney Hudson (T-97th, 158). The individual medalist was Sofie Kvarnstrom of Western Carolina, who shot a 135.
The women's golf team returns to the links on October 10-11 at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
