Women's Golf Stands in Fifth at Austin Peay; Hudson Tied in the Fifth Place

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – The Belmont women's golf team stands in fifth place after round one of the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate held Monday at The Links of Novadell in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

Belmont shot a team score of 304 in Monday's first round to put them in fifth place.  They are 10 shots behind tournament leader Murray State.

The Bruins have three golfers among the top-15.  Freshman Sydney Hudson leads the way as she is tied for fifth place after carding a career-low 73 (+1).  Junior Janet Steen and freshman Evin Edens are tied for 13th place after each posted a 75 (+3) on Monday.  Other Belmont scores from Monday include: Jennifer Newman (T-43rd, 80), senior Kelly Maguigan (T-49th, 81).  Three Bruins are competing as individuals: junior Patricia Masick (T-25th, 77), junior Megan Murphy (T-38th, 79), sophomore Morgan McQuary (T-60th, 86). 

The individual leaders are Lisanne Schmidt of Eastern Kentucky and Holly Batey of Austin Peay, who both shot a 71 in the first round.

The second and final round will begin Tuesday morning at 8:30am CT.
