Women's Golf Finishes 10th at the MTSU Blue Raider Invitational
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Belmont women's golf team stands in 1th place after day one of the MTSU Blue Raider Invitational held Monday at Old Fort Golf Club in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
The Bruins shot a team score of 308 in Tuesday's final round to move up one spot to 10th place with a 54-hole score of 941. Host MTSU won the tournament with a score of 886, while Lamar placed second at 900.
Junior Janet Steen led the Bruins as she tied for eighth place at 224 after carding an even par 72 in the final round. It was the Hendersonville, Tennessee native's second top-10 finish of the fall season. Freshman Evin Edens tied for 41st place with a three-round score of 237. Other Belmont scores from the tournament included: junior Patricia Masick (T-48th, 239), freshman Sydney Hudson (T-55th, 242), and senior Jennifer Newman (T-69th, 249). Two other Bruins competed as individuals. Junior Megan Murphy tied for 57th at 243, while sophomore Morgan McQuary finished in 78th at 271.
The women's golf team wraps up its 2011 fall season next Monday-Tuesday, October 31-November 1, at the UAB Fall Beach Blast in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
