Women's Golf Stands in Fourth after the First Round of the UAB Fall Beach Blast
GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Belmont women's golf team stands in fourth place after round one of the UAB Fall Beach Blast held Monday at The Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
In Monday's first round, the Bruins shot a team score of 322, which puts them in fourth place. Memphis is the tournament leader with a score of 300, while UAB is in second at 309 and Southern Miss is in third place at 318.
Two Bruins are among the top-10 after 18 holes. Junior Janet Steen is tied for seventh place after carding a 77. Freshman Sydney Hudson posted a 78 in round one and is tied for ninth place. Other Belmont scores from day one included: freshman Evin Edens (T-26th, 83), senior Kelly Maguigan (T-29th, 84), and junior Patricia Masick (T-29th, 84). Two Bruins are competing this week as individuals. Senior Jennifer Newman is tied for 13th after carding a 79, while sophomore Morgan McQuary is in 59th place after shooting a 96. Memphis' Katherine Glavin is the tournament leader with a 72.
The second and final round will begin Tuesday morning.
