Women's Golf Heads to Florida for the A-Sun Championship

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – The Belmont women's golf team aims for their first conference title as they compete in this week's Atlantic Sun Conference Championship held at Venetian Bay Golf Club in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

The Bruins have some momentum as they start play on Monday.  Last week, they won the team title at the Belmont Invitational.  It was the program's first championship in nearly five years.  For the season, BU has posted five top-five finishes, including two during the spring season. 

Belmont has been paced by junior Janet Steen.  The Hendersonville, Tennessee native leads the team in scoring with a 77.4 average and has five top-10 finishes, including a tie for eighth at the Belmont Invitational.  In addition to Steen, freshman Sydney Hudson has made an impact during her first season as a Bruin.  She is second on the team in scoring (78.9) and has posted five top-15 finishes.

This year's 54-hole championship will be hosted for the second time at the Venetian Bay Golf Club in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.  The course lasted hosted the event in 2010. 

The first round of the championship begins on Monday morning at 7:00am CT.  The second round will be held Tuesday, with the third and final round on Wednesday.
