Ninth Place Finish at NKU

BATAVIA, Ohio – The Belmont women's golf team finished in a tie for ninth place at this week's NKU Fall Classic held at Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia, Ohio.

On a day where golfers were dodging raindrops throughout the round, Belmont shot a team score of 319 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for ninth place with Fort Wayne at 960.  UNC-Asheville won the team title at 914, while Dayton was second at 918.

The Bruins were led by senior Mallory Sullivan, who shot a five over par 76 in the final round to finish in a tie for fourth place at 225.  She finished three shots behind individual medalist Ellie Cronin of Dayton.  It was her first top-five showing since finishing first in the team's dual match against Austin Peay last March.  For her efforts, she was named to the All-Tournament team.

Other Belmont scores from the tournament included: sophomore Carlee Nanney (T-34, 240), junior Emma Kate Liu (T-49, 248), freshman Ann Catherine Blackburn (T-58, 253), and sophomore Julia Nittoli (T-60, 254).

Freshman Maribeth Peevy, competing as an individual, finished in a tie for 28th with a score of 237.

The women's golf team will be back in action on October 2-3 at the APSU Intercollegiate in Clarksville, Tennessee.
