Five Women’s Soccer Players Named College Players to Watch by TopDrawerSoccer.com

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Five Belmont women's soccer players were recently named as TopDrawerSoccer.com's Top-20 College Players to Watch in the Atlantic Sun for 2010.  Seniors Erica Carter (Spring, Texas) and Jayme Trocino (Franklin, Tenn.), juniors Sari Lin (Carefree, Ariz.) and Gretchen Sutch (Knoxville, Tenn.) and sophomore Laura Harris (Macon, Ga.) were tabbed to the elite list.

Senior Erica Carter (Spring, Texas) was named First Team All-Atlantic Sun after playing in all 20 games and starting the last 14 up front.  She led the Bruins in shots on goal (21) and also found the back of the net four times.  Carter also notched both of Belmont's goals to give the program it's first-ever win over Florida Gulf Coast.

One of the league's most offensively dominating players last year, midfielder Jayme Trocino (Franklin, Tenn.) could be up for a repeat in her final year as a Bruin.  Last season, the All-Atlantic Sun First Team selection was second in the conference in points (23) and goals (10).  Trocino also finished the season ranked 75th in goals per game and 97th in points per game among all NCAA Division I players.

Carefree, Ariz., native Sari Lin is one of the Atlantic Sun's top goalkeepers.  For the last two years, she has led the conference in save percentage and has been in the top-three for GAA and saves.  The two-time A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week was ranked 38th in save percentage and 39th in GAA among all NCAA Division I goalkeepers.  A First Team All-Atlantic Sun selection, Lin finished her sophomore campaign with a 10-6-4 record.

Junior Gretchen Sutch (Knoxville, Tenn.) earned an All-Atlantic Sun Conference First Team nod after starting and playing in all 20 matches, logging over 1600 minutes.  The defender was also second on the team in assists with a total of four.

Macon, Ga., native Laura Harris had a great freshman season for the Bruins.  As one of only five players to start and play in all 20 contests, the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team selection logged over 1500 minutes on the field and notched one goal.

Belmont officially opens its 2010 season on the road at the University of Missouri on August 20.  Match time is set for 6:30 p.m.
