NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's soccer team (2-3) will look to snap its recent two-game skid with its road trip on Friday evening. The Bruins travel to Western Kentucky (3-2) for their lone contest of the week.
Western Kentucky will look to improve to 4-2 on the season when Belmont travels to Bowling Green on Friday night. The Hilltoppers have split their last four contests, including a 2-0 loss to #20 Memphis last weekend. WKU is led in scoring by Mallory Outerbridge and Leslie Chinn, who have netted two goals apiece. Libby Stout is the team's lead goalkeeper, logging 448 minutes between the posts. She also has a GAA of 1.00, 11 saves and a .688 save percentage.
The programs have only met once before with Western Kentucky winning the game back in 2008 by the score of 2-0 in Nashville.
Belmont is on the hunt for its third win of the season after dropping both of its contests last week. At home against UAB, the Bruins were edged in the final 30 seconds of overtime, falling, 3-2. Two days later on the road at Austin Peay, BU was held off by a second half surge and fell, 2-1 in regulation.
Freshman Taylor Smith (Atlanta, Ga.) led the Bruins in scoring for the week, netting the first two goals of her collegiate career. Senior Jamie Loftis (Hermitage, Tenn.) also picked up her first goal of the season during the span. Senior Gretchen Sutch (Knoxville, Tenn.) and juniors Lauren Paynter (Danville, Ky.) and Vanessa Pepin (Melbourne Beach, Fla.) each notched assists. Sophomore Nicole Berner (Randolph, N.J.) logged over 189 minutes in goal for BU, finishing with 12 saves over the two games.
