Women’s Soccer Hosts Evansville, Miami (OH) This Weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's soccer team (2-1) will wrap its longest homestand of the season this weekend at E.S. Rose Park.  The Bruins host Evansville (1-2) on Friday evening and Miami (OH) (3-1) on Sunday afternoon.

The Purple Aces come to Nashville looking to extend their win streak after dropping the first two contests of the season.  Evansville is led in scoring by Kayla Smith and Kristen Davis, who have each netted one goal.  Chaviel Harrison is UE's leading goalkeeper, logging a GAA of 1.67 with 17 saves.

Evansville leads the all-time series, 4-1.  The programs have not faced off since the 2008 season.

First-time opponent Miami will travel to Nashville hoping to improve on its 3-1 start to the season.  The Redhawks split action last week, falling to Northwestern at home, 2-1, before rebounding at Milwaukee, 4-2.  UM is led in scoring by Jess Kodiak, who has found the back of the net four times.  Kayla Zakrzewski leads the team in assists with a total of three.  Allison Norenberg is the Red Hawks' top netminder, logging over 330 minutes in goal en route to notching a 1.09 GAA.

This will mark the first meeting between the programs.

Belmont split action on the first leg of its four-game homestand, earning a 1-0 shutout against Union before being edged by Appalachian State by the same score.  Sophomore Allie Hicks (Carmel, Ind.) led the Bruins in scoring with one goal.  Senior Lauren Paynter (Danville, Ky.) led BU in shots with a total of seven.  Junior Nicole Berner (Randolph, N.J.) went the distance between the posts over the two matches, finishing with one save.
