Softball Struggles Against Chattanooga

OXFORD, MS -- Belmont (1-13) fell to Chattanooga, 10-2, in five innings in the second game of the Ole Miss Red and Blue Classic. The Bruins continued to struggle offensively, managing only three hits in the game. Belmont will continue play in the tournament with the final round-robin game against host Ole Miss at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, followed by two rounds of bracket play.

Senior Ashley Byers continued to lead the Bruins offensively, recording one hit and driving in one run on the day. Sophomore Ashley Hammer scored one run on one hit, junior Courtney Elrod had a hit and an RBI, and sophomore Kim Johnson scored the other Belmont run. The Bruins allowed 10 hits and 10 runs for the second straight game as the offensive struggles continued.

Belmont will be back in action Saturday against Ole Miss and will likely enter bracket play as the four-seed. The Bruins will begin bracket play 2:30 p.m. and will play the final game Saturday at 4:45 p.m. Belmont will wrap up play with a game Sunday at either 10 a.m. or 12:15 p.m. All schedule information, live stat links, post game recaps and box scores will be available at
