Softball Shutout in Red and Blue Classic
OXFORD, MS -- Belmont (1-16) softball struggled offensively for the second straight day as the Bruins were shutout in two games on Saturday. Belmont fell to host Ole Miss, 0-6, in the first game of the day. The Bruins then played Troy for the second time in two days, falling 0-8 in six innings.
In the first game, Belmont managed just two hits, one from senior Ashley Byers and the other from freshman Hannah Turner. Byers and Turner have been two of the most consistent producers for Belmont in recent games. The Bruins had four hits in the second game, including two from sophomore Kim Johnson. Junior Rebecca Gift and freshman Amanda Criscione also had one hit each.
Belmont will play in the consolation game Sunday morning at 10 a.m. The Bruins will take on Chattanooga for the second time in the tournament.
