NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Belmont (5-20) will travel to Cookeville, Tenn., for a single game against Tennessee Tech at 5 p.m. this evening. The game was originally scheduled for March 8th, but was rescheduled due to rain.
The Bruins come off a disappointing loss to Marshall on Tuesday. After mounting a furious rally to tie the game heading into the seventh inning, Belmont surrendered four runs in the top of the seventh and was unable to match Marshall's scoring in the bottom of the inning, ultimately falling 7-11. The Bruins were led by senior Ashley Byers, who continued her hitting streak with a double, and freshmen Kat Hollingsworth and Heather Turner. Hollingsworth has been red-hot at the plate for the past several games and continued that trend Tuesday with a double that scored two RBI's and completed the Belmont comeback. Turner started the rally with a three-run home-run in the bottom of the fourth inning. It was her second home run of the season.
Thursday's game will be the second meeting between the two teams this season. Belmont beat Tennessee Tech back in February when the two teams met in the Frost Classic in Chattanooga, Tenn. It was the first win for Belmont in the series since 1999. The Bruins had lost 22 straight to Tennessee Tech before the dramatic 6-5 win this season. Last year's meeting with the Golden Eagles was rained out, as was the meeting scheduled for earlier this season.

The Bruins are off this weekend, but will hit the road again next Tuesday when they travel to UT-Martin for a single game beginning at 4 p.m. Belmont will return home the first weekend of April to open the home portion of their conference schedule by hosting Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast for an A-Sun weekend.
