Women's Tennis Loses at Mercer
Macon, Ga. – The Belmont women's tennis team fell to homestanding Mercer 6-1 in an Atlantic Sun Conference match held Friday in Macon, Georgia.
The Bears won the first point of the match as they captured two of the three doubles matches. The lone Belmont win came at number three as Lindsay Bennett and Lauren Irick beat Stephanie Cohen and Sarah Hanna 8-6.
In singles, Mercer won five of the six matches to clinch the match victory 6-1 over the Bruins. The only Belmont player to win a singles match was Lauren Irick, who won at number six. Irick beat Sarah Hanna 2-6, 7-6 (7-3), 10-6.
Belmont (3-12, 0-8) returns to action Saturday as they play at Kennesaw State beginning at 9:00am CT.
