Women's Tennis Falls to MTSU 5-2 in Season Opener

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Belmont women's tennis team fell to MTSU 5-2 in their season opener held Friday night at the Wildwood Tennis Club in Brentwood, Tennessee.

In doubles, the Blue Raiders picked up wins at the first and third positions to pick up the first point of the match.  The lone Belmont win came at the number three as sophomores Natalia Nunes and Catherine Holliday beat Alex Dachos and Lisa Maas 8-4.

On the singles side, MTSU (1-0) continued their strong play by posting wins at positions one, two, three, and five to clinch the match victory over the Bruins 5-2.  Belmont did have two singles victories.  Catherine Holliday won at the fourth position as she defeated Lexi Brand 6-1, 5-2 (retired).  Natalia Nunes posted a victory at number six singles as she beat Lisa Maas in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.

Belmont (0-1) will be back in action on the road tomorrow (Saturday) as they face Chattanooga.  The match is set for 1:00pm CT.
