JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- Belmont Women's Tennis closed the regular season portion of its Ohio Valley Conference schedule on the road Friday.  The Bruins (5-15, 3-6 OVC) defeated Jacksonville State (4-16, 0-8 OVC), 5-2, at the JSU Tennis Courts.

BU won the doubles point, thanks to a win a No. 2 by the duo of seniors Kendall Warren and Lindsey Whitehead, 6-4, and a defaulted win at No. 3 for Abbie Mather and Maddie Gilley.

In singles play, the Bruins were again aided by default wins, this time at Nos. 5 and 6 for Mather and Suzanna Stapler.  The Gamecocks notched wins at Nos. 1 and 3 to jump out to a lead before Laura Van Eeckhoudt won in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 2.  Warren also won in staight sets at No. 4, 6-3, 6-4.
