Women’s Track and Field in Sixth After Day One at A-Sun Championships
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Belmont women's track and field team settled into sixth place after the first day of competition at the 2011 Atlantic Sun Outdoor Championships on Friday. The Bruins collected 12 points after seeing action in four events.
Junior Nicole Muldowney (Hoover, Ala.) was BU's top placegetter in the running events after taking fifth in the 10000m with a time of 38:16.73. Classmate Caitlin Standifer (Plano, Texas) followed right behind her in sixth, barely seven seconds off the pace (38:23.53). Junior Katelyn Eberhardt (Mishawaka, Ind.) rounded out the Bruin presence in the event, taking 11th (39:28.51).
Freshman Jilian Linklater (Lake Orion, Mich.) took 12th in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 15.48. Classmate Ge'Cobi Pittman (Long Beach, Calif.) finished 11th in the 100m with a time of 12.68.
In the field events, senior Liz Codrington (Gretna, La.) led the way, finishing fourth in the long jump with a distance of 5.56m. Freshman Sarah Wrieden (Middletown, Md.) grabbed a 16th place finish in the event (4.91m).
The Bruins return to action tomorrow at North Florida's Hodges Stadium for the final day of the 2011 Atlantic Sun Outdoor Championships. Live stats will be available here.
