Women's Track and Field Has Strong Showing at Vanderbilt Invitational
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's track and field team had a strong showing at the Vanderbilt Invitational this weekend. The Bruins collected 11 top-15 finishes over the two-day meet.
In the 5000m, BU had its strongest showing led by sophomore Kimberly Muldowney (Hoover, Ala.). She led several Bruins in the event, taking sixth with a time of 18:05.20. Junior Nicole Muldowney (Hoover, Ala.), sophomore Courtney Bishop (Nashville, Tenn.) and junior Kara Sephel (Nashville, Tenn.) finished seventh (18:11.06), eighth (18:15.11), and 14th (18.48.99), respectively.
Freshman Jilian Linklater (Lake Orion, Mich.) took 11th in the 100m Hurdles (15.62) while redshirt freshman Megan Bradley (Nampa, Id.) finished 13th in the 400m Hurdles (1:08.04).
In the field events, senior Ester Mellado (South Barrington, Ill.) finished fifth in the javelin with a toss of 36.01m. Classmate Liz Codrington (Gretna, La.) took third in the triple jump (11.74m) and ninth in the long jump (5.50m). Freshman Sarah Wrieden (Middletown, Md.) finished 11th in the long jump (5.06m). In the high jump, Linklater leapt to a sixth-place finish with a height of 1.70m.
