MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The Belmont women's track and field team made its 2012 debut at the Blue Raider Invitational hosted by Middle Tennessee State University over the weekend. The Bruins concluded the one-day meet with 12 top-10 finishes.
Senior Nicole Muldowney (Hoover, Ala.) was the top place getter for the Bruins on the track, taking third in the Mile with a time of 5:11.55. Belmont had three more runners finish in the top-10 of the event- junior Katelyn Eberhardt (Mishawaka, Ind.) was fifth (5:20.07), freshman Mia Elbon (Nashville, Tenn.) took eighth (5:27.92) and junior Courtney Bishop (Nashville, Tenn.) was ninth (5:28.62).
Junior Fallon Dickens (Nashville, Tenn.) crossed the line fifth in the 400m with a time of 1:00.40 to lead the Bruins. She was followed by freshman Anna Carrigan (Alexandria, Ky.) in sixth (1:01.23), freshman Tanisha Williams (Madison, Tenn.) in 11th (1:03.29) and sophomore Megan Bradley (Nampa, Id.) in 16th (1:04.56). In the 800m, junior Kimberly Muldowney (Hoover, Ala.) led the Bruins with a ninth-place finish (2:24.04), followed by freshman Dana Veen (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and senior Shannon Titus (Bowling Green, Ohio), who finished 12th (2:26.31) and 16th (2:29.92), respectively.
In the field events, freshman Bobbi LeAnn Walters (O'Neill, Neb.) claimed a second-place finish in the pole vault (3.20m) while sophomore Marissa Hollingsworth (Libertyville, Ill.) took fifth (2.74m) in the event. Sophomore Jilian Linklater (Lake Orion, Mich.) took third in the high jump with a mark of 1.60m, followed by freshman Caylee North (Roland, Ark.) in fifth and sophomore Brittany Woods (Franklin, Tenn.) in eighth (1.45m). Sophomore Sarah Wrieden (Middletown, Md.) notched an 11th-place finish in the long jump (4.93m).
Belmont returns to action on Wednesday, January 25 at the two-day Birmingham Invitational hosted by UAB.
