NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Belmont volleyball head coach Deane Webb will represent the Bruins on City College Sports Saturday on 102.5 The Game, Saturday morning.
Despite starting the season, 1-7, the volleyball team who finished the season with an overall record of 18-16 and an 11-5 conference mark. The team was the first Belmont team to win an Ohio Valley Conference championship since joining this fall.
The Bruins earned the OVC's automatic bid following their 3-1 win over Morehead State in the title game to make their third appearance in the NCAA Tournament. After winning the OVC Tournament, BU played Louisville in a guarantee-match arranged through the league office. Belmont then faced Louisville again in the first round of the NCAA Tournament where they won the first set, before falling to the Cards, 3-1.
Belmont, who had no seniors on the championship team, had three players overcome significant injures to make a huge impact for the squad. Junior Jen Myer (New Braunfels, Texas) led the Bruins in kills this season, talling a total of 308. Junior Allison McCoy (Huntington Beach, Calif.) recorded a .331 hitting percentage, while junior setter Hannah Miranda (Covington, La.) dished out 1,234 assists during the season.
