NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont Volleyball wraps its first homestand of the season this week in the Curb Event Center. The Bruins (5-2) host No. 24 Western Kentucky (5-2) for a dual on Tuesday night.
Nationally ranked WKU brings a 5-2 mark into Nashville after dropping its first two outings at the Cardinal Classic, hosted by Louisville. Alyssa Cavanaugh leads the team in kills with a total of 86 while Emma Kowalkowski leads the defensive effort with 78 digs. Jessica Lucas, who was tabbed Conference USA Setter of the Week on Monday, leads Western Kentucky in assists with a total of 244.
The Hilltoppers lead the all-time series, 18-0.
Belmont enters Tuesday's clash looking to build on its run at its Bruiser Showcase. The Bruins went 2-1 during its two-day tournament and saw a pair named to the All-Tournament team in seniors Brie Lewis (Stillwell, Kan.) and Arianna Person (Lenexa, Kan.).
Person leads the team in kills with a total of 88. Senior Emma Price (Fort Mill, S.C.) leads the team in assists while classmates Emily Richards (Penfield, N.Y.) and Ellie Ivancich (Naperville, Ill.) head up the defensive effort, logging 85 and 83 digs, respectively. Junior Alexa Nichols (Walton, Ky.) has rang up three solo blocks and leads in block assists with a total of 26 to stand ranked 55th in the total blocks nationally.
