Women's Cross Country Places 10th at South Regional

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Belmont women's cross country team placed 10th out of 27 teams in competition at the NCAA South Regional Championships on Saturday in Tuscaloosa.

The Bruins recorded the third best performance among Atlantic Sun Conference squads on Saturday, recording 303 team points.  The A-Sun Champion Lipscomb Bisons placed seventh with 258 points, while North Florida was just ahead of BU in ninth with 284 points.  Mercer and Kennesaw placed 19th and 21st, respectively.

Freshman Mia Elbon (Nashville, Tenn.) led BU for the second straight meet, recording a time of 21:47.50 on the six kilometer course.  She placed 36th overall in a field of 191 harriers.

Juniors Nicole and Kimberly Muldowney (Hoover, Ala.) were the second and third runners for Belmont on Saturday.  The former placed 67th with a time of 22:16.30, while the latter crossed the line in 22:20.00 to take 70th.

Senior Caitlin Standifer (Plano, Texas) and junior Shannon Titus (Bowling Green, Ohio) rounded out the Bruin scorers at the meet.  Standifer placed 72nd with a time of 22:23.40 and Titus placed 86th in a time of 22:44.40.
