Women's Cross Country Releases 2012 Schedule
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University women's cross country head coach Seth Sheridan announced his program's 2012 schedule Thursday, highlighted by two area meets and a thorough tour of the southeast.
The Bruin campaign begins in its traditional manner, with the Belmont Opener Aug. 31 followed by the Commodore Classic Sept. 15.
From there, Belmont will head to Cam Newton territory, taking part in the Charlotte Invitational Sept. 28.
October brings a return to the Evansville Invitational Oct. 13 as a prelude to the OVC Championships two weeks later.
Florida State will host the 2012 NCAA South Regional meet Friday, Nov. 9. Should all go well, Belmont would head to Louisville Nov. 17 for the 2012 NCAA Championships.
"The quality of our schedule is solid, especially since the Vanderbilt meet is the pre-SEC meet this year," Sheridan said. "We have a very, very young team this season, so hopefully the schedule will allow us to develop correspondingly as the season progresses. As always, the ultimate goal is to be prepared and running well at the OVC and NCAA region meets."
Belmont, winner of seven Atlantic Sun Conference championships, has been ranked in the final USTFCCCA South Region poll 11 straight years.
