NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University student-athletes had another successful semester in the classroom as 2014 fall grades were finalized last week.

For the 2014 fall semester, the departmental grade point average (GPA) was 3.335, which marks the 34th consecutive semester that Belmont student-athletes have earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher dating back to the spring of 1998.
 
“Our student-athletes continue to be so impressive with their performance in the classroom,” said Mike Strickland, Belmont’s Director of Athletics.  “That success is credited to the hard work of our student-athletes, coaches, and academic support staff who strive for academic excellence.”
 

Other highlights from the fall semester included:

  • 25 student-athletes earned a GPA of 4.00
  • 51.79% earned Dean’s List honors (3.5 of higher)
  • 74.10% earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • All of the teams earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Women’s Golf had 100% of their student-athletes earn a 3.0 of higher.
  • Women’s Soccer had 87.5% of their student-athletes earn Dean’s List honors (3.5 of higher)
The top-five team GPAs from the fall semester were as follows:
Women’s Soccer – 3.809
Women’s Golf – 3.675
Volleyball – 3.602
Women’s Basketball – 3.484
Women’s Cross Country – 3.484
 

In addition, three sports (women’s soccer, volleyball, and women’s golf ) had 90 percent of their student-athletes earn a 3.0 or higher.
