Belmont University Director of Athletics Scott Corley announced Tuesday, Aug. 14 the hire of Ryan Neises to the position of coordinator of academic services and sport ministry.
In his capacity, Neises will work in concert with Belmont Associate Athletic Director/SWA Renee Schultz in managing the athletic department's academic support and student services, including academic advising, counseling, study hall, life skills' programming, internships and career development. He will also serve as athletic department advisor to the Belmont University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Moreover, Neises will oversee all department-related ministry, including overseas mission trips, campus and Nashville-based partnerships, and student-athlete spiritual development.
"Throughout the search process, our committee was impressed by Ryan's personal story, his love of learning, and commitment to student-athletes," Corley said. "With experience as a coach, administator and educator, Ryan is uniquely qualified to assume this role within our department. We welcome him to Belmont."
Neises comes to Belmont after serving a number of roles at Cincinnati Christian University, most recently as assistant athletic director. His basketball coaching experience spans over a decade at the high school and collegiate level, and Neises has served as a professor of sport at two universities.
Neises holds a bachelor's degree in sport management & business from Ohio University, a master's degree in sports leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University, and is currently pursuing a doctorate of education in the Global Sport Leadership program at East Tennessee State University.
