DELAND, Fla. - Belmont junior Judah Akers (Cookeville, Tenn.) was named College Baseball 360 Postseason Player of the Day for his performance against Stetson on Wednesday night. The first baseman recorded three hits, including the game-winning walk-off single through the infield in the bottom of the 15th.
Akers tallied all three of his hits from the ninth inning on. The junior singled to right field and eventually scored the game-tying run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra innings. Akers was able to push Belmont past the host Hatters with his single against five infielders in the 15th, and advance to Thursday's second round contest.
Eight players across the country were honored by the online publication Thursday morning, but Akers was singled out as the Primetime Player of the Day for his elite performance. To check out all of the honorees, head over to College Baseball 360.
