Baseball Comes From Behind to Win Series With Bowling Green

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont Baseball (2-1) came from behind in Sunday's series finale to defeat Bowling Green, 3-1.

Bowling Green struck first in the fifth as Jesse Rait's RBI groundout scored Andrew Kubuski, putting the Falcons ahead, 1-0. 

Jamie Ritchie (Buford, Ga.) scored the first run for the Bruins after Matthew Kinney (Alpharetta, Ga.) reached on a fielder's choice. Tyler Walsh's (Evansville, Ind.) RBI single to center gave Belmont the go-ahead run, scoring Kinney from second base.

Belmont added one more in the seventh as Spencer Petett (Tompkinsville, Ky.) singled through the left side to bring home Ritchie, putting BU up 3-1.

Patrick McGrath (Jackson, Tenn.) made his debut for the Bruins and picked up his first win. The left-hander went seven innings and struck out five. Greg Brody (Dacula, Ga.) pitched the top of the ninth and earned his second save in two tries.

Belmont continues its homestand with Western Kentucky on Tuesday, February 18 at 4:00pm.
