NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont Baseball will be back home at E.S. Rose Park this weekend for another conference series. The Bruins will welcome the UT Martin Skyhawks for a three-game series. First Pitch is set for Friday, March 23 at 4:00 p.m. CT. 

Shutting The 'Dore

Belmont is coming off a big win over No. 8 Vanderbilt on Wednesday night. The two teams met at First Tennessee Park, home of the Nashville Sounds. Belmont won the matchup 8-5. The eight runs were the most that he Commodores have allowed thus far in the season. The Bruins scored five runs in the fifth inning, which is the most runs Vandy has allowed in an inning.

Stealing Bags

Belmont has shown some crafty base running this season. The Belmont squad leads the OVC in stolen bases with 35. Junior Chas Hadden (Morristown, Tenn.) is a big reason the Bruins have been so successful stealing bags. Hadden is a perfect 9-9 on stolen bases, stealing the second most bases of any athlete in the OVC this season.

Masterful Matt

Fans can expect sophomore Matt Cogen (Franklin, Tenn.) to be a factor in this weekend's matchup. Cogen currently leads the team with a .386 batting average and .566 slugging percentage. He has rocketed seven doubles, a triple, and two home-runs on 32 hits. He has also driven in a team-high 17 RBIs. 

Scouting The Skyhawks

The Skyhawks are led by interim Head Coach Ryan Jenkins. He took over the program in December of this past year. UT Martin is coming off a two-game losing skid against SEMO last weekend. The Skyhawks offense is led by Jordan Stoner and Ben Aslett. The two have a .333 and .309 batting average respectively and a combined 11 RBI's. Stoner was 10-for-18 last week and rocketed four doubles and two triples. The squad was picked to finished 10th in the Ohio Valley Conference before the season began. 

Series Breakdown

Belmont leads the all-time matchup with UT Martin 34-22. The two programs met for a three-game series last year in Martin, Tenn. Belmont won the overall weekend series 2-1. Belmont won the series opener 8-5 and the series finale 8-6.
