NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont Baseball continues a five-game road stint in Indiana for a midweek matchup with Evansville on Tuesday, May 2nd. First pitch at Braun Stadium is slated for 6:00 p.m. CT.

About the Bruins

The Bruins are coming off an exciting 13-10 victory over conference foe, Murray State, on Sunday after dropping the first two games of the series. 

Stealing Bags

Belmont has shown some crafty base running this season. The Belmont squad is second in the OVC in stolen bases with 58. Junior Chas Hadden (Morristown, Tenn.)  has greatly contributed to that number. Hadden is a perfect 17-17 on stolen bases, the second most in the conference. He has 38 career stolen bases, the sixth most in Belmont history. Senior Kyle Conger (Brentwood, Tenn.) has added nine stolen bases this season. He has now stolen 40 bags in his career, the fifth most in Belmont history. 

Walk It Out

Hadden has worked a team-high 44 walks this season. His 44 walks are the most in the OVC. He has drawn the 5th most walks in the nation and averages 1.02 walks per game, the fourth most in the country. He is just five walks away from being the Belmont all-time leader in career walks.

Dynamic Duo

The freshman duo of Kyle Brennan (Franklin, Tenn.) and Logan Bowen (Bowling Green, Ky.) have been impressive in relief on the mound for the Bruins. Bowen has made 25 appearances on the season. His 25 appearances are the most of any athlete in the OVC and the 13th most in the country. Kyle Brennan is right behind him with 23 appearances, which is the second most in the conference.

About the Purple Aces

The Evansville squad has an overall record of 7-30. The Purple Aces are currently riding a five-game losing skid. The squad is led by Dalton Horstmeier who is batting a team-high .301. The squad is batting a combined .243. The pitching staff has a combined ERA of 5.85 and have allowed 207 earned runs and have struck out 295 batters.  

Series Breakdown

The Bruins lead the all-time series 10-1. Last season, Belmont and Evansville met for two mid-week matchups. Belmont defeated Evansville at home 3-0 before taking down the Purple Aces 16-9 later in the season in Evansville.
