NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont Baseball will finish their conference home stand this weekend with a three-game series against No. 25 Tennessee Tech. First pitch for the series is slated for Friday, May 4that 4:30 p.m.
Tennessee Tech leads the all-time series 23-26. Last season, the squads met in Cookeville for a three-game series. The Golden Eagles won the first two games before Belmont defeated Tech in 11 innings on Sunday.
Walk It Out
Junior Chas Hadden (Morristown, Tenn.) continues to be a problem for opponents at the plate. Hadden has drawn 45 base on balls already this season, the fifth most in the country. Hadden continues to work his way up the record book in total career walks. He currently has 141 which puts him second on the all-time list and just four from the lead.
Belmont has shown some crafty base running this season. The Belmont squad is second in the OVC in stolen bases with 58. Hadden is a big reason the Bruins have stolen so many bags. Hadden is a perfect 17-17 on stolen bases, the second most in the conference. Kyle Conger has added nine stolen bases on the season. He now has 40 in his career, the fifth most in Belmont history.
Junior Casey Queener (Brentwood, Tenn.) has been concsisten on the mound this season. He leads the team with 79 strikeouts and boasts a 3.34 ERA, the third best mark in the conference. He also leads the conference in strikeouts and strikeouts looking (21).
The freshman duo of Kyle Brennan (Franklin, Tenn.) and Logan Bowen (Bowling Green, Ky.) have been impressive in relief on the mound for the Bruins. Bowen has made 25 appearances on the season, the most in the OVC and the 15thmost in the country. Brennan is right behind him with 23 appearances, the third most in the OVC.
