NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont Baseball returns to the diamond Tuesday for a midweek matchup with in-state foe Memphis. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. CT. 

Belmont is coming off a three-game conference series against No. 25 Tennessee Tech. Belmont was swept but took the Golden Eagles to extra innings on Saturday. This was the first time a team has forced extra innings against Tennessee Tech this season. Belmont turned a school record six double plays in the loss on Saturday.

Junior Chas Hadden (Morristown, Tenn.) drew six walks on the weekend, increasing his season total to 51. His 51 walks are the second most in the country. He is averging 1.09 walks per game which is also the second most in the country. With his second of three walks on Saturday, Chas Hadden broke the Belmont all-time career record in the category with 156. 

Sophomore Matt Cogen (Franklin. Tenn.) has been a force at the plate for the Bruins this season. He leads the team in nearly every statistical category including batting average (.351), slugging percentage (.535), hits (71), and RBI (42). This weekend, Cogen rocketed two home runs in one game against Tennessee Tech on Friday.  

Memphis is led offensively by Cale Hennemann who is batting .298 and has 48 hits and 17 RBI. As a team, the Tigers are batting .233 and have recorded 362 hits, 197 runs, and 176 RBI. The Tigers boast a 4.20 team ERA and have allowed 419 hits and 234 runs. Opponents are batting .261 against them. 

The Tigers lead the all-time series 4-2. Last season, Memphis traveled to Nashville for a midweek game. The Tigers shutout the Bruins 6-0.
