First Road Test

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University Baseball will have its first road test of the season on Wednesday as the team heads to Middle Tennessee State for a midweek matchup. First pitch at Reese Smith Jr. Field is slated for 2:00 PM C.T. 

LAST TIME OUT

Belmont notched a series victory this past weekend against Bowling Green. The Bruins defeated the Falcons in two of the three games, outscoring them 18-5 on the weekend. 

SERIES NOTES

MTSU leads the all-time series 9-24 with all of those wins coming under Head Coach Dave Jarvis. The squads met twice last season with the Blue Raiders winning both matchups. Belmont last defeated MTSU on March 15, 2016 in Murfreesboro. 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

For the second week in a row Belmont has notched an Ohio Valley Conference weekly honor. Sophomore Jackson Campbell (Russellville, Ky.) earned Co-Player of the Week honors after an impressive week both offensively and defensively. He smashed a pair of home runs against Southern Illinois and scored five runs, plated six and threw out three base runners on the week. He had an impressive slugging percentage of .867 along with 39 putouts and six assists.

WALK IT OUT

Junior Chandler Adkins (Knoxville, Tenn.) has worked an impressive 12 walks, the most on the squad and second most in the Ohio Valley Conference. 

FAMILIAR FACES

First year Assistant Coach Caleb Longshore will return to MTSU for the first time since joining the Belmont Staff. Longshore spent last season as the Blue Raiders' Assistant and Pitching Coach. Associate Head Coach Aaron Smith is also no stranger to MTSU, graduating from the University in 2005.
