NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Looking to avenge a ninth inning heartbreaker at Western Kentucky University last week, Belmont University Baseball will host the Hilltoppers at E.S. Rose Park on Tuesday. First pitch is slated for 4:00 p.m. CT.

The Hilltoppers and Bruins met last week in a midweek battle. Belmont took a quick 3-0 lead after a junior Hagan Severance (Brentwood, Tenn.) solo home run in the second inning and a two run third. WKU, however, responded and retook the lead in the fourth inning. The Hilltoppers continued to increase its lead until Belmont used a big top of the ninth to retake a one-run lead. WKU broke the Bruins' hearts with a walk off win in the bottom of the ninth. BU will look to avenge the heartbreaker on Tuesday night.

Sophomore Kyle Brennan (Franklin, Tenn.) has been incredibly impressive as a reliever on the mound this season. He has thrown 25-straight scoreless innings, dating back to March 2nd against BGSU. In this stretch he has walked just three batters and has notched 23 strikeouts, including two outings longer than five innings. He threw five and two-thirds innings against Jacksonville State last weekend, fanning 10 and allowing just four hits.

Junior Chandler Adkins (Knoxville, Tenn.) hit a stride this week for the Bruins, single handedly keeping the Belmont offensive on pace. In the double header with JSU on Saturday, Adkins was 2-2 in game one with a sac fly and a walk. He was also one of the only offensive sparks for the Bruins in the last game of the series, notching two hits and batting in all three of BU's runs. In addition, he had a nice day against Western Kentucky with an RBI double. He slugged .600 on the week and added a stolen base while working three walks. While playing at third base, Adkins had a perfect fielding percentage during the stretch.

Even with an injury hindering him from making as many appearances last season, senior Kyle Klotz (Morristown, Tenn.) became Belmont's all-time leader in pitching appearances with 96. Klotz will continue to shatter the record. He has appeared in 12 games so far this season including notching his first career start against Western Kentucky.

Tuesday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+. Live stats and an audio stream will also be available via As always, fans can also follow @belmontbaseball on twitter for live updates.
