NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Sophomore relief pitcher Kyle Brennan (Franklin, Tenn.) has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week the league announced Monday.
Brennan was a key piece in Belmont's sweep of Murray State University this weekend. He notched three saves in as many days to secure the series victory and push BU back into first place in the conference.
Performing in three high-stress situations, Brennan allowed no runs and gave up just three hits. He continually fooled batters, notching seven strikeouts in his three innings of work. This weekend's appearances extended Brennan's scoreless streak to 28 innings dating back to March 2 against Bowling Green State University.
Monday marks the first career OVC Pitcher of the Week honor for Brennan. Brennan joins freshman Joshua South (Cookeville, Tenn.) and senior Casey Queener (Brentwood, Tenn.) who have also garnered Pitcher of the Week honors this season.
