NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University senior Hunter Holland (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) has been named the Ohio Valley Conference player of the week the league announced Monday.
In last week's four games, Holland hit .400 with five runs scored, two doubles, a triple and three home runs for a 1.267 slugging percentage. In addition, Holland recorded 13 RBI, two stolen bases and .474 on-base percentage helping Belmont to a 3-1 record. All six of his hits were for extra bases.
Holland hit two home runs, including a three-run blast in his first at-bat, and drove in six in Sunday's 9-5 series clinging victory over Tennessee Tech. In the first game of the TTU series, the senior was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, a sacrifice fly and five RBI as Belmont won 11-7. He also drove in a couple runs in the midweek victory over rival Lipscomb. Holland ranks second in the OVC in triples, fourth in doubles and 10thin RBI.
