NASHVILLE, Tenn. – #4 Belmont will play #5 Murray State in game two of the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Tournament on Wednesday morning. First pitch is slated for 9:00 a.m. CT at Rent One Park in Marion, Illinois.
BACK IN THE TOURNEY
After just missing the 2018 OVC Baseball tournament, the Bruins will be back in the action this season for the double elimination tournament. 2017 was the last OVC tournament Belmont Baseball appeared in. The 2017 squad made a run in that tournament, making it all the way to the championship game. This will be the first conference tournament most of the squad has appeared in. Just five Bruins have made previous appearances in the OVC Tournament.
BU VS THE FIELD
After one of the best starts to OVC play in its history, BU baseball secured the #4 seed in the conference tournament. BU is 13-8 against the rest of the OVC tournament field, including three-game sweeps of both Murray State and UT Martin.
GAME 2 MATCHUP
Belmont will play Murray State in its opening game of the OVC Tournament. In its three-game series during the regular season, the Bruins swept the Racers. The series in April was highlighted offensively by sophomore Jackson Campbell (Russellville, Ky.) who had a .545 average during the weekend. Defensively, sophomore Kyle Brennan (Franklin, Tenn.) was named OVC Pitcher of the Week after securing saves in each of the three games.
RENT ONE PARK
For the first time in its history, the tournament will be held at Rent One Park in Marion, Illinois. Rent One Park is home of the Southern Illinois Miners of the Frontier League.
All games of the 2019 OVC Baseball Tournament will be broadcast on ESPN+. Live stats and an online radio call will also be available. Fans can also follow along via @belmontbaseball on twitter for live updates.
