Title: Volunteer Assistant Coach

Zac Mitchell joins the Belmont Baseball staff for his first season as volunteer assistant and first base coach. Mitchell is a familiar face to the program as he was a member of the 2011 and 2012 Belmont Baseball Atlantic Sun Champion squads. 

After spending two seasons at Motlow State Community College, Mitchell made an immediate impact for the Bruins. In 2011, Mitchell started every game and was named to the A-Sun All-Tournament team after recording four hits, including a triple and a home run en route to securing the Conference Championship. He was also an important piece to the Bruins’ 2012 A-Sun Tournament Championship. 

After his successful collegiate career, Mitchell played four seasons in the Independent Baseball Leagues ranks. He played for the Wichita Wignuts, Gary SouthShore RailCats and the Florence Freedom. Mitchell retired from the Gary SouthShore RailCats in 2015.  

Mitchell began his coaching career in 2017 as the hitting coach and defensive coach for the Florence Freedom.
