NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball continues play Wednesday night versus Trevecca Nazarene.
Belmont made 16 three-point field goals and held Lipscomb to 33 percent shooting in earning an 87-62 victory Monday. Sophomore Taylor Barnette (Lexington, Ky.) and sophomore Nick Smith (Bentonville, Ark.) each recorded career-highs in scoring.
The Trojans are finishing a busy stretch of five games in six days, which included an exhibition contest at Vanderbilt Sunday.
Former Belmont All-American Alex Renfroe was an NAIA All-American at Trevecca in 2007. The Hermitage, Tenn. native played two seasons at Trevecca before standout seasons in 2008 and 2009 in a Bruin uniform.
This marks the fourth meeting between Belmont and Trevecca Nazarene in Belmont's NCAA Division I era. The Bruins won 86-61 Nov. 28, 2011. Seniors Reece Chamberlain (Goodlettsville, Tenn.), Holden Mobley (Nashville, Tenn.) and Spencer Turner (Bloomington, Ind.) played against Trevecca as freshmen.
