NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball returns to game action Friday versus Eastern Kentucky in the semifinal round of the 2015 OVC Basketball Championship.
The Bruins had 10 different scorers in the first half Thursday in defeating Eastern Illinois, 97-64.
Senior Reece Chamberlain (Goodlettsville, Tenn.) flirted with a triple-double in the quarterfinal victory over Eastern Illinois, tallying nine points, eight rebounds and eight assists. He had 10-9-9 vs. Southeast Missouri (1/1/15) to open OVC play.
Sophomore Evan Bradds (Jamestown, Ohio) and Eastern Kentucky's Eric Stutz are first and sixth, respectively, in the nation in field goal percentage.
This marks the 10th meeting between Belmont and Eastern Kentucky, and eighth in OVC play. Belmont holds a 5-4 series lead.
This marks the second consecutive season that the Bruins and Colonels have met in the OVC Basketball Tournament. Eastern Kentucky won the 2014 OVC Championship game, 79-73, denying Belmont the opportunity to become the first NCAA Division I men's basketball program since Gonzaga (2004-07) to win four consecutive regular season and tournament conference championships.
