NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball returns to game action Saturday vs. Green Bay.
The Bruins dropped an 87-76 decision at No. 23 TCU Wednesday night. Junior Dylan Windler (Indianapolis, Ind.) continued his fine play, pacing four Bruins in double figures with 17 points.
Belmont shot 51 percent from the field for the game and handed out a season-high 24 assists, but couldn't get over the hump in the final five minutes.
Belmont head coach Rick Byrd (2011) and Green Bay head coach Linc Darner (2015) have each received national coach of the year honors.
Two members of Belmont's incoming class hail from the state of Wisconsin: Mitch Listau (Waunakee) and Derek Sabin (Slinger).
2014 Belmont graduate Drew Windler is a native of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Former Belmont All-American Ian Clark ('13) won an NBA Championship with the Golden State Warriors in 2017. Former Green Bay standout Keifer Sykes played for the Warriors' 2016 NBA Summer League Team.
Belmont was slated to play at Green Bay last season, but Winter Storm Decima, which buried much of the upper Midwest and Great Lakes in heavy snow, ice, and sub-zero temperatures, kept Belmont from getting to Wisconsin. The Bruins will play at Green Bay next season.
This marks the second meeting between Belmont and Green Bay. The Bruins won at Green Bay, 80-65, in the 2014 Postseason NIT. Craig Bradshaw ('16) led Belmont with 25 points.
Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. CT from the Curb Event Center. The game will be broadcast on OVC Digital Network. The live play-by-play of Voice of the Bruins Kevin Ingram can be heard on the Bruin Sports Network. In-game updates will be available via Twitter @BelmontMBB.
