NASHVILLE, TENN. - - Belmont men's basketball plays its penultimate regular season game Thursday versus Mercer. The Bruins had their six-game win streak snapped Feb. 20 at FGCU, 85-80. The host Eagles shot 52 percent from the field in the second half and made their final 15 free throw attempts of the game. Moreover, Belmont's top two leading scorers - freshman Ian Clark and sophomore Mick Hedgepeth - fouled out.

Sophomore Drew Hanlen has provided steady play at the point guard position this year. Over his last nine games, the St. Louis, Mo. native is averaging 8.9 points, 3.0 assists and 1.8 rebounds per game. Hanlen had a career-high 15 points at ETSU Feb. 1.

Traditionally known for its three-point shooting prowess and halfcourt execution, Belmont has been solid defensively all season. The Bruins lead the Atlantic Sun in field goal percentage defense (.414) and three-point field goal percentage defense (.299).

Belmont has won 15 of the 19 meetings with Mercer, including a dramatic 94-90 overtime victory in Macon Dec. 5.
