MURRAY, Ky. – The Belmont men's golf team finished third at the Murray State Invitational held this week at Miller Memorial Golf Club in Murray, Kentucky. In addition, freshman Ted Moon finished in fifth place in the individual standings.
In Tuesday final round, the Bruins posted a team score of 286 to move up one spot to third place with a 54-hole score of 866. They finished 14 shots behind tournament champion and host Murray State and nine shots behind second place Lipscomb.
Belmont had three golfers among the top-25. Freshman Ted Moon was named to the All-Tournament team after finishing in fifth place with a score of 211. It was his highest finish as a collegian. Sophomore Ben Simpson tied for 15th place with a score of 218. He carded a one-under par 70 in Tuesday's final round. Freshman Carson Ward finished in a tie for 25th place after posting a three-round score of 221. Other Belmont scores from the event included: freshman Adam Sanders (T-37th, 224) and junior Elliott Wickenden (T-41st, 225). Freshman Chris Thurman played as an individual and tied for 52nd place at 230.
The men's golf team is back on the course next Monday and Tuesday, October 10-11, at the UC Bearcat Invitational in Hebron, Kentucky.
