HOOVER, Ala. – The Belmont men's golf team is tied for third place after round one of the Samford Intercollegiate held Monday at the Hoover Country Club in Hoover, Alabama. The second round was not completed due to darkness.
The Bruins shot a team score of 298 in the first round which ties them for third place with Davidson. Host Samford is the leader at 291, while Austin Peay is second at 297.
Three Belmont golfers are among the top-20. Junior Elliott Wickenden is tied for second after posting a three-under-par 69. Sophomore Ben Simpson is tied for 15th after posting a 75, while freshman Carson Ward is tied for 18th after carding a 76. Other Belmont scores include: Ted Moon (T-38th, 78) and Chris Thurman (T-82nd, 84).
Since the second round was not finished on Monday, it will be completed on Tuesday morning. The third and final round will begin at the conclusion of the second round.
