BRASELTON, Ga. -- The Belmont men's golf team aims for a conference title as they compete in the Atlantic Sun Championship held this Monday-Wednesday in Braselton, Georgia.
The Bruins enter this week's championship with some momentum. They have three top-10 finishes in five spring events, including a fifth place finish at the Samford Intercollegiate last month.
Leading the way for the BU is freshman Ted Moon and junior Elliott Wickenden. For Moon, it will be a homecoming of sorts as he is from nearby Lilburn, Georgia. The freshman leads the team in scoring with a 73.8 average and has four top-10 finishes. Last week, he posted his best finish as a Bruin as he placed fourth at the Mizzou Intercollegiate. Wickenden, a Knoxville native, is second on the team in scoring and has posted three top-10 finishes this season.
The championship will be played at The Legends Course at Chateau Elan in suburban Atlanta. The 6,975 yard par-72 course hosted the Sarazen World Open Championship, a PGA Tour event from 1994 through 1998.
First round play begins Monday morning at 7:00am CT. The second round will be held Tuesday, with the third and final round on Wednesday.
Live scoring from the championship can be found through Golfstat.com or through AtlanticSun.org.
