A Tale of Two Rounds

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's golf team stands in seventh place after day one of the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate held Monday at Richland Country Club in Nashville.

On a sunny, windy, warm day in the Music City, Belmont struggled in the morning round, but came back in the afternoon with a solid second round.  The team carded rounds of 313 and 296 on Monday to finish the day in seventh place at 609.  Host Lipscomb leads the event at 574, while Ole Miss is second at 575.

Two Bruins are among the top-30 after 36 holes.  Sophomore Daniel Booker is tied for 17th place at 150 after posting rounds of 72 and 78.  Redshirt junior Logan Matthews shot rounds of 79 and 74 to finish Monday in a tie for 29th place at 153. 

Other BU scores from day one included: freshman Nate Thomson (T-35, 154), freshman McCullough Pickens (T-54, 158), and redshirt freshman Win Temple (T-60, 159).

Sophomore Parker Buck is competing as an individual and is tied for 68th at 162. 

Ole Miss' Braden Thornberry has the individual lead with a 36-hole score of 134. 

The third and final round will begin Tuesday morning at 8:00am.  Belmont will tee off from hole #1 from 8:00-8:36am.  Live scoring of the third round can be found at www.golfstat.com.
